**SPOILER ALERT**

I was very impressed with Gameboard of the Gods and I was hoping that the rest of Richelle Mead’s adult books are just as good. Storm Born is the first in a set of 4 books that I bought as a bundle (The Dark Swan series). I’m happy to see that it ends at 4 (at least for now) because I’m feeling a little tired of series that have gone on so long that there is no longer an original story to tell (I’m not mentioning any names here!) Did Storm Born live up to the bar that Gameboards set? Here is what I thought….
Be aware that this series goes downhill with every book. I thought the first two were quite good, but I wasn’t too impressed with Eugenie and her many dubious choices in the third book, and I couldn’t even finish the fourth, I was so frustrated and upset that I couldn’t even finish it. Richelle Mead seems to have a real difficulty ending her book series. The Succubus books also end on a weak note.
Thanks for the heads up…it’s hard to find a series that remains consistently good (or, god forbid, gets better) over the series…
Have you tried Ilona Andrews’ Kate Daniels books or Seanan McGuire’s October Daye books? They’re pretty much awesome from book two onwards, and at books 6 (the former) and 7 (the latter, I just finished book 7 this evening), they are still incredibly enjoyable and the sort of books I clear my entire schedule just to be able to read uninterrupted. If you haven’t tried them, I give them my wholehearted recommendation.
I have not read either of those books, but I’ve downloaded the samples and look forward to trying them out! Thanks for the recommendation.
Both series are a bit slow to start, I wasn’t completely hooked until book 3 with the Seanan McGuire books or book 2 with Ilona Andrews – so bear that in mind. I love both series a LOT, though.
