The Darkest Minds is about a world where children and teenagers develop crazy super powers. The government forms an agency to track them down and throw them in concentration camps and be really mean to them. Our main character is a girl named Ruby. She is very powerful, an Orange on the color scale of powers (Green and Blue powers are relatively safe, Yellow, Red, and Orange are dangerous). Ruby is different because she doesn’t really know how to use her powers, she is actually afraid of them. She meets up with a group of escaped kids and they travel to a rumored safe haven called East River. I don’t know how well my blurb is explaining things. There’s lots of crazy developments along the way, and even more once they reach their destination.
It was nice to get a series starter with some actual meat to it. Although, at nearly 500 pages, I would have been very angry if it had been light on content.
