Amazon was super confident I’d love this book. It’s been pushing Gone Girl on me for months now, and I’ve been looking the other way because I don’t read thrillers. I read fantasy and a little horror and the occasional sci fi and the assorted subgenres thereof and since I’ve been buying tons and tons of books from Amazon for years now, it should know better. It’s even recommended a few of my absolute favorite books recently: Johannes Cabal the Necromancer, The Night Circus, Mechanique: A Tale of the Circus Tresaulti.
Of course, it also keeps trying to push 50 Shades of Gray, and it still thinks I’ll really like The Sad Tale of the Brothers Grossbart, even though that was the first book the free preview convinced me against purchasing or reading.
The review on Pajiba really pushed me over the edge on this one. I’m glad I took the plunge. I’m not adverse to reading outside of my usual ruts–I’ve just got a habit to maintain and it’s easy and comforting to go with the familiar.
I am on the waiting list for this at our library, and it is taking forever! I might just have to break down and buy it.
It’s taking forever for me, too!
I just saw two women fighting over a copy of it at the thrift store.
I had to sit on a waiting list, too. Luckily, the library had it for kindle, and the wait tends to be slower.
I finally got this and read it last week. I can say now, spot on review. Well done!
